Q. Do you understand clearly the recruiting standards in the sport and at the level you want to compete at?

Q. Do you know the budget of your sport?
A. This is often a moving target, this is important to define early on.
Q. Do you know how much the coach has to spend on your recruiting class?
A. The answer relates directly to how much money he may or may not have for you.

A. Get the NCAA Guide for Student-athletes ASAP.
Q. Have you worked up your pre-FAFSA financial aid profile?
A. Many times coaches give “packages”, they love to “wait” on FAFSA information and that takes too long. Prepare and plan for this tactic and have information at the ready.
Q. Have you attended a competition at the NCAA DI level? NCAA DII level? NAIA level?
A. This is a good research project. Do not just assume you can or cannot play at these levels; you will be surprised at what you find.
